The New Szeged railway station, built by the generations of the part of the city, is now an almost cult place - today it belongs to the population: the weeds have grown, and on the former entrance the board warns of the danger of collapse.
Few people know that at the end of the 19th century, at the beginning of the 20th century, life was just bubbling here. In 1857 the Austrian State Railway built the Vienna-Pest-Szeged-Temisoara line, thus making a significant traffic for the station in New Szeged. The importance of the place shows that the famous luxury train Orient, which connects Western Europe with Eastern Europe, also stopped here on its journey from Paris to Varná ...

We are pleased to announce that, after long planning, we have finally succeeded in winning András Monostori, a tour guide, who is known throughout the city for his extraordinary preparation, dedication - and not least - creative local history walks ...
András' first volume published in October, with Szeged's MAI eye, contains "urban historical walletnovelas" which were born during the tour guide's research and lectures. The first writing of the book - that it is not - is about the railway station in New Szeged.
At the event on 22 January, we can listen to this writing, talk about the station's past and present, about the literary aspects of the place - as it has it! - as well as about the author's ideas about the programs planned with this local historical memory.
